The Rane PI-14 is purportedly compatible with this Crown amplifier:

1ITP,

I really liked this amp until I realized the thing is six feet deep.   That's just crazy.

Not even independent power and glory switches can offset the negative WAF on that.  :duh:

Have fun,   :thumb:

Yet another captive power cord. So much for Crown's audiophile appeal.

The 6 foot depth limits the market a little, too.

Well DARN, I always thought we could do better than Crown until this.

This makes me wonder if I shouldn't just retire now.  The only thing we got with the same excitement factor is if you grasp firmly the 6CA7 tubes on our new Ultravalve amplifier after it has been running for an hour or two while listening to U2Crew.

That HAS to be a joke!  The description is SO off-the-wall that it can't be real.

Here is another interesting device, Jensen Transformers, Inc.'s Multi-denomial Transpedance Informer.

http://www.engineer-exchange.com/images/stories/rockyDocs/jeepers.pdf

"The Jensen JE-EP-ERs pioneered the use of triple electonomic shielding and intrinsic eddy-breeding, until outlawed by Congress in 1988. Voluntarily discontinued when their stock of zeta-metal ran out, preventing any further use of interstage transpedance informance."  Engineer Exchange http://www.engineer-exchange.com/content/view/36/68/

It's a joke, as is the Crown amp.

...but the fact that people actually have to ask is... telling...

I think this type of humor must be very difficult to detect in a language other than your native one, especially given that a large part of it consists in emulating serious technical language, very much like most "real" ad copy for consumer grade technical devices. A form of sophistry.

For me, any "technical" terminology is a non-native language.  I don't know if these manufacturers were poking fun at themselves, other manufacturers, or the industry-at-large.  Of note, however, is that these publications were produced before anyone started selling little acoustic bowls for $3600.00.

Agreed, however, that the aforementioned publications were produced in a style that mimics the description of a legitimate product and could be difficult to discern from a legitimate product.

Lots of products being sold now are difficult to discern from a "legitimate" product. Snake Oil is huge as is magic potions. People want to believe in anything, as they have lost faith in everything. Stand for nothing, fall for anything. Fear not, there are still some foundations that don't have cracks.

What are these acoustic bowls that you speak of?  I've been looking to upgrade my system recently...   :rotflmao:

Forget Acoustic Bowls.

Go for Acoustic Bowels.

Just invite four chubby people to come over and stand in the four corners of your room.  Best,  least expensive bass traps you can ever ask for!!!

PS.  For best results,   first take and treat your four,  chubby friends to an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet.   Dairy products and MSG may diminish effectiveness.  Use at your own risk :green:
