Lorelei and Nemesis questions
« on: 31 Dec 2003, 04:10 pm »
Hey!  I took the plunge and ordered myself a pair of Lorelei's and a Nemesis center channel.  Two questions for those in the know - first, how high is the Lorelei tweeter off the ground?  I ask because right now the center sits on a stand in front of the TV, so tweeter alignment is better.  However, once I get the Lorelei's since their tweeter is higher I'm thinking the Nemesis might be better off on top of the TV, although the mains sit out about a foot in front of the TV so that wouldn't be good.

Second question - anyone have a real world picture of the Nemesis?  Specifically with the grill off?  I'd like to see driver alignment and sizing which is impossible with the picture on Odyssey's web site.

Thanks!

Brian.

The speakers are 41" high and the midpoint of the woofer is about 31" off the ground and the midpoint of the tweeter is about 37" off the ground.

Secon ...
The Nemisis is shaped like a spade, exactly like the top picture of Alain Courteau's other floorstander designs. The placement of the drivers is the tweeter in the center with the 2 midbass on either side. The speaker has a retractable pole in the rear for balancing. I have mine underneath my tv and actually took the pole out so's to angle the speaker more upward. I'd much rather have a speaker pointing up from the floor than down from above as the latter reminds me too much of the dentist/doctor/hospital room, etc. I also leave the front cover off the Nemisis as the med. oak finish blends nice with the Lorelei's as does the sound. BTW, the Nemisis is an 8ohm/100watt max center. Hope this helps ya Brian. Regards, Robin
