IA-7 V1 vs. V2?
« on: 7 Aug 2009, 09:58 pm »
I just got the IA-7 V1 and absolutely love it...So I got the V2 and it sounds worse?
For instance Ray Charles sounds too "in your face" and not as natural. How can this be?

I am using a Musical Fidelity V-Dac as a source via Optical from a dedicated HTPC. Lossless files. Home made Cat5 cable concoction for speaker cables. Signal cable IC.
Separate grounded power cord for the Amp.

The V2 is sitting next to the Dac whereas the V1 is one shelf lower, could this cause such a drastic difference?

Any thoughts? Am I imagining things...Maybe I'll listen some more. Just got the V2 today...

Let it breakin for 50 hours. Switch the amps if you suspect something is wrong (how can that be?)
May be the DAC is causing some interference?

Thanks Jason,

The V2 is used and around 2 years old, so it should be well broken in!

UPDATE: just heard from the guy I bought it from; said he hardly used it in a second system (what a waste!) and it probably needs to break in!

I'll listen some more...It's growing on me...

Thanks,
Josh
