Article on RIAA LP Equalization
« on: 28 Jun 2009, 11:58 pm »
Just wanted to link an excellent article by Keith Howard, published in March 2009 Stereophile

http://stereophile.com/features/cut_and_thrust_riaa_lp_equalization/

The article explains following:

- Why RIAA equalization?
- Different equalization curves
- Neumann 4th pole (Neumann Ultrasonic Time Constant)
- Contribution of AC's own Jim Hagerman is also mentioned
- Tools for an interesting experiment with Phase Distorion are given

Overall, a very nice read about history and technical reasons behind RIAA equalization technology. Math is minimal and non-frightening, prose clear and detailed. Once again - highly recommended!
