« on: 26 Jun 2009, 05:10 pm »
Hi there, just got a pair of passive subs and would like a stereo or two mono Class D amps, cheap, under $200 if possible to drive them.

Please let me know if you have any or know of any,
Thanks

I've got a pair a Adcom GFA-555's I'll sell really cheap. Not Class D, but they'd be good for sub amp duty I'd think. If I remember they're rated at around 200 watts/8 ohm and can be bridged for around 380 W/ea.

I'm mean cheap....like $50/ea plus shipping. I just need to get rid of some stuff. The were gone over by an authorized tech before retirement and work fine. The pilot light doesn't work on one of them. Rate 5 for age and the usual nicks and dings for an amp of this age.

If Tuan doesn't want them, I could use a pair of GFA-555 amps in my home theater that is currently under construction.  $50/each is give away price.

Thanks.

You're probably gonna find that (most)"cheap class-D's" won't have the reqd. power for your subs.

To say that you'll pass on the amps, right?  You really want a digital amp.  Digital amps are green and they're so much better than old late 80's or early 90's amplifiers.  It's the new millenium.  Go digital!

I'll be the back-up depending on how things work out.

Cheers,
Tom

P.S.  Don't even get me started on the shipping cost for those Adcom Amps

Tom, I am already using Class D amps for my main speakers...and a passive pre, so I am "green"  :green: enough I think...
