NE-7M and N95
« on: 30 May 2009, 11:13 am »
My Ne-7Ms have just arrived from Amazon, and I'm having a problem using them with my Nokia N95 8GB.  Plugged in normally, they they make a static-type noise, and no music is audible.  The handset shows that the TV connection is in use.  Pulling them out a small way gives great sound (sensational, in fact), but this is impractical for portable audio.

It seems that the iPhone pins on the 3.5mm connector are incompatible with the Nokia's (according to pinouts.ru).  Is there an adaptor available to correct this, or should I get the soldering iron out?  If I did swap the connections around, would the mic work with the N95?

From what I've heard sitting in the living room, these are great IEMs.  Any help getting them on the road would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Australia, so it'll take a few days to arrive.  I'll post when it arrives.

Got the part.  You do need to pull it out somewhat to make it work, but it's a pretty tight fit, and it only has to come out a little way, unlike the delicate balancing act when it's plugged into the phone directly.  It's fine for walking around, going to the gym, etc, but I haven't tried it out jogging yet.  Obviously the mic doesn't work, and the straight plug isn't ideal for the side-mounted socket.  For the price, though, it's not a bad solution until I work up the nerve to take the soldering iron to my IEMs.
