Any possibility of a DAC with an HDMI or I2S input?

Hi Frank,

I have posted in the past a request of the possibility of your DACs handling higher resolution music formats.  Here is a link to that post:

It seems there is more and more music making its way to us in higher resolution formats (24/192) as was done recently with the Neil Young Archives Volume 1 box set released on Blu-Ray disc.  At this time there is probably no solution available to feed this high rez audio from the Blu-Ray player to an external DAC to produce better sound reproduction than the Blu-Ray player itself.  The SPDIF format is limited in resolution (24/48???) and anything higher than that via Blu-Ray requires an HDMI input due to the music industry trying to protect their content.

As an owner of AVA products and your Omega Star DAC, I would not want features like this added if it would compromise performance.  However, it appears physical formats to carry audio will become a thing of the past in the next few years.  If so, hopefully we will have the ability to download high resolution files instead of MP3.  There are already sites that provide download of high resolution FLAC files and some are listed in my previous post linked above.

Is there any possibility we may see an HDMI digital input on your DACs to allow more flexibility for future use?  (some use another type of connection called 'I2S' or 'I squared S' for high rez digital passage, there is a component by PS Audio that does this.)

Another option is to introduce a network connection that would allow you to connect to a Network Attached Storage (NAS) very much like the Squeezebox products do.

I'm a big fan of your products and would love to see the introduction of features on your DACs that allow for future digital high rez music.  I have a feeling that others here may have the same desire.

Regards,

Ted
