For Sale
SAS model 10A stereo vacuum tube preamp.
I replaced my separate linestage and phono stages with a Manley Steelhead and am now selling my 4-year old SAS 10A. It is a fine unit, fully living up to the outstanding review in Bound for Sound, and I thought long and hard before making this decision. People who buy these hold on to them, and you rarely see them for sale.
I had improved this unit even more by installing a remote controlled DACT step attenuator, for sale in the Accesories circle, in place of the volume controls. I have returned the unit to stock condition for this sale. However, the following cosmetic issues now exist owing to the conversion:
1. A ?? hole in the front panel, where the IR sensor had been mounted. This hole is now cleanly filled with a black nylon plug and is quite unobtrusive. It is the black dot visible between and slightly above the volume knobs in the front panel picture.
2. A 5/16? hole in the back panel where the DC power input for the step attenuator remote circuit was located. Again, filled with a black vinyl plug.
3. Four 1/32? holes in the left side of the case where the remote control circuit board was mounted ? not filled in.
4. One small nick at the top edge of the front panel, approximately the size of a pencil tip.
I installed two external chassis ground points on the back panel to facilitate unit-to-unit ground wiring. This may help an owner to remedy ground loops by trial-and-error, particularly when using phono step-up transformers.
This is what SAS now calls the Standard 10A. When I bought it, for about $1500, it was the only version of the 10A. You may review the SAS website here:

I am asking $850 or best offer for this unit. I can?t seem to add the pictures to the gallery these days, but I will gladly email them directly to any interested member.
