One nice thing about the Speakons is you can't accidentally hook them up wrong and blow drivers in a multi-amp setup.  Very easy to wire up, inexpensive, and bulletproof, which is why they're used in pro audio.

I use Speakons on my external networks.  Tom is right, they're a snap to use and I haven't noticed any sonic negatives at all....

Yep, that is nice, but they are not concerned with sound quality either. So inserting a piece of steel into the signal path is no big deal.

Speakon's connectors are silver plated brass...

Look right under contact material is contact plating Ag, I think that's silver unless I'm really getting old...

Are you really getting younger Arthurs?  :jester:

I wish  :thumb:  but when my memory sputters and wrestles to retrieve simple info more than it used to, I worry the aging process has accelerated more than I am aware...

Hey, that's happening to me more and more each day too. So much for my plans of growing old gracefully.

Sure, you can seal them up from the rear side with any number of goopy things :)

Looks interesting Sean. Airtight grommets of some sort?

Yeah, I was looking at using them instead of binding posts on a DIY amp. The actual contact path between the wire is much shorter than a binding post with a very small amount of brass as the contact point.
