I really, really have been liking the phono section in my Ultra SL preamp, both with the stock JJ and with some Sovtek 12AX7LPS tubes.  But...  I have always been curious about NOS European tubes, so I bit the bullet and ordered a NOS matched pair of Telefunken smooth plates from Brent Jesse Recording.  The price was up there, but still reasonable compared to some of the other reputable tube dealers.  I can't wait to put these into the phono section and try 'em out...  aa

The T8 phono section is also pretty amazing--I love it.  I opted for the T8 instead of the Ultra for two reasons--my listening room is very "live" and I tend to prefer the tube "sound."  I also am curious what difference you'll hear with the Telefunkens.  Let us know.

I have a pair in my TR7 phono stage and they made one hell of a difference.  I'm sure you are going to love them.
