Welcome Chris!  :thumb: As an owner of a pair of Timepiece Minis, this thread caught my attention. After looking at the Lenehan Audio website, my first impression is that the crossover is responsible for the fast presentation. The ML1s, at under 30lbs, are far lighter than the Minis, at 39 lbs,and they both share a similar sandwich construction. I do not doubt the inertness of the ML1s mind you, its just that when one HAND WINDS inductors, unheard of at this price point, the results are apt to be superior, all other things being equal. Mr. Lenehan obviously knows what he is doing when it comes to designing, and building, speakers! Of coure one does not get something for nothing. The ML1s sacrifice a smidgen less extension, with a 5 1/4" woofer,  and 1db less sensitivity. On the plus side, a smaller cabinet contributes to a more point source presentation. Does anyone know the crossover point of the ML1s?  Were that I was more financially endowed, I'd pick these up in a New York minute!

Konut:

I believe the crossover is at 2.65khz.  I agree the crossover has a lot to do with the quick, dynamic presentation of these speakers, but credit must also go to the cabinet.  While it's not as heavy as the Mini's, it's much more inert due to it being HDF (vs. mdf on the Mini) and having a smaller panel size.  In terms of the bass, the Mini's do go slightly lower, but in my room the ML1's are flat to 40hz, which is pretty amazing considering their size.

As a former owner of the Mini's and one who was able to hear them side-by-side with the ML1s, I can tell you the sound of the two speakers is more similar than it is different.  What sealed the deal for me was the ML1s ability to get closer to how real musicians sound when playing live.
