Best Y connection for RCA cables
« on: 30 Apr 2011, 01:07 pm »
I have a Slimdevice Transporter and would like to take the RCA output to 2 different systems (equip. is located in the same cabinet). The first connection would go to the input of my pre amp and the second to Niles ZR6 as input into the multi zone system in the house. I will also take a digital out to my new EE DAC :D

What is the best way to do this? Will I "lose" any of the signal from the Transporter by splitting the RCAs ?

Appreciate your thoughts

David

I believe there might be some difference in the output level.  Something like this would be of better quality than y cables -

Thanks Phil. this does look like a better approach as I can then use high quality cables

There's also stuff like it a bit cheaper - http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/adapters/rca-adapters/35-482/prod35482.html

I think I bought one of the cheaper ones for a friend and they looked decent.  I gave him my (16 year) old Phase Technology sub when I upgraded the secondary basement system sub and he has one like it and wanted to try two subs.

I've seen car audio wire companies have the same thing...

Is there a line driver/splitter that could be better???

An A/B switch might be better.
