In Wall Array
« on: 16 Apr 2009, 02:14 am »

I haven't posted here before but I thought I 'd throw out something since it's been quiet. I'm new to Selah speakers but I've looked through the web site and I live here in NC so I plan to stop by. I have a pair of VMPS RM 30s. These are deep speakers with a narrow baffle. There was a post on the VMPS forum about placing RM30's in walls and it started me thinking. My HT area is a cabinet flanked by two columns and the VMPSs are sitting in front of the columns. They have never been a really good fit. I thought if I went in wall the VMPS wouldn't make sense but the symmetrica would fit right in the columns and I started thinking/dreaming that I could just turn these columns into line arrays. It seems to me that a line array would be less sensitive to placement so I could place them in the wall - Plus I could probably sell the VMPS and get the symmetrica kits I would just have to figure how to build them in but I have some good woodworking friends.

Is this nuts or a great idea

Great idea; in fact, this has been done before. I have a pair of Symmetricas to demo if you would like to come hear them. Many of our customers don't post that much because they are in their listening chairs.  :thumb:

HI tbrooke,

I own a pair of the Syms.

They are the best imaging speak I have ever heard, and produce a large soundstage.

When I have people over that hear them for the first time they are just amazed.

I have others from Selah also, the Sardonyx makes a fine match for a matching center.

The kits are not a difficult DIY build, the Syms were one of my first and came out beautiful.

I'm submitting this link as food for thought for those that want to add a line array to their home theater.

I'm not sure about the subwoofers but the main speakers look great

Actually I was in the shop when the panels were being cut.  8)

Monte is the brother of my friend Marshall Kay and we may make a road trip to Austin to hear his system.

I would have to check with Monte. All the files are in the CNC machine so that part would be easy.
