tonearm rewire service
« on: 4 Feb 2009, 05:55 pm »
I think I want to have my SME IV tone arm rewired to something better, but can't figure out who and where to send it to. Anybody have this kind of work done in the past?

Gary,

Contact BritAudio in North Carolina...he's the Incognito dealer in the US.  http://britaudio.com/Tone_Arm_Rewires.html

He's a real nice (surprise! British) chap...and was very prompt.  He re-wired my Rega 250 a while ago :thumb: (maybe his name was Michael?..can't remember for certain)

I think Take 5 Audio is in Canada (in case any Canadians are lurking about this topic)

Gary,

I also received great service from BritAudio. They rewired my SME 3009 II Improved with Cardas wire for $139.  They also replaced the SME whatchamacallit with RCA jacks so I can use any cables I want.

I sent BritAudio an email last night. Told them I was thinking that I wanted the small DIN connector instead of the big one SME uses, and wanted it all to be one piece with no connections between connectors on the ends. No reply yet, but expect it today.

I would be interested to know how you made out with your SME IV. I also have one and the other day a fellow suggested having mine rewired with silver wire for improved sound. I too want some sort of adapter for increased versatility so I can use RCA cables.
