Greetings all,

I'm a happy owner of a pair of A/V-2s.  These were my first venture into woodworking and I think I can do a better job the second time around.  I also have a toddler running around and am becoming increasingly concerned about the corners of my speaker stands.  She could seriously injure herself if she were to fall and hit her head on one of those corners.  I've got the speakers positioned in such a way that the chance is extremely unlikely but still the chance is greater than 0 so it bothers me.

So to the point, since I'm rebuilding them anyway I'm considering putting the ports on the sides, top or bottom so I can wall mount them or at least really push them up against a wall.  I don't want to front port them because I am using Danny's premade baffles.  Also, what about not using a port at all.  I also built a GR Research sub using Danny's PR-12a and SW12a drivers.  If the only thing I lose buy not using a port is base extension down to 55 hz that may be the way to go.  I'd appreciate your thoughts on the best approach as well as the pros and cons of either side/top or bottom porting.

Thanks for your time,

Nate

I'd still port them. Running the port out the side is not going to be a problem either.

thanks Danny,

Is it 6 one and half dozen the other or will I be losing something by side porting rather than rear porting?
