I plan to reconfigure my Cornet 2 for Octals this spring time.  Which tubes seem to work best for the Hagerman Cornet/2?

Tubes:

I put together both the Cornet2 and the Chime as Octal units because I had a decent supply of 6SN7 tubes.

I am currently using the 6SN7W Sylvania chrome tops and Mullard ECC32s. In my system they give a smooth detailed sound.

I have also used various VT-231 (Raytheon, Ken-Rad and Sylvania). These are very nice.

A tube I have begun to experiment with is the Russian 6H8C with nickel base. Very promising to my ears.

For the 12AX7 I have some Telefunken pieces which are excellent.

Hope this helps.

I also hope you get the chance to do your octal Clarinet. The 6SN7 works well in my Ultrapath linestage

Best
