I know of no other company that completely closes the door on second hand owners like Vandersteen. It doesn't seem like the right way to do business and it makes for buying second hand Vandersteens a crapshoot if issues arise. But it's still his right to only recognise original owners only and not service anyone else and I really don't think Richard despises second hand owners as much as he simply refuses to recognise them. I would never buy his speakers no matter how much I like them for that sole reason. I wouldn't ever want to sell them to someone else knowing they'll never have them serviced by Vandersteen. :nono:

I don't think he despises second hand owners as much as they despise him. Would you agree with that statement Mike? aa

Cheers,
Robin

Hi all,

My cousin drove down from Harrisburg this past Saturday to hear my VR-5 Annie's. He uses the same amp (McIntosh MC352) as I to drive his B&W 802's. He was blown away by the transparency and soundstage of my Von's especially when I played the Telarc SACD of Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man". Those kettle drums sure shook the room!! If any of you have a particular CD that really shows off your Von's, please share them with us. Unfortunately, he did not bring his camera down to take shots of my system. I haven't forgotten, as soon as I get pictures taken, I will get them posted.

Happy Listening,
Henry

Thanks for the support everyone..

One thing I will say is that I got the immpression from Albert that his main priority is that people enjoy the sound of his designs. I know I was just small change to Von Schweikert in the whole picture of his business but he was very supportive and treated me as if I was buying a pair of VR-11's. I know he didn't make much, if any money off of my repair/upgrade in fact he said that he was selling me the components at cost pretty much. I really appreciated his support of a little guy like me. I think Von Schweikert gives the double whammy of a great product and good friendly support.

Greetings VSA owners and fans,

I am an audiophile from Lithicum, Md. Let me give you a little background on how I got to know VSA. About a year ago, I was shopping for a plasma TV and I went to Stansbury AV in Millersville. While I was there, the salesman introduced me to the Von Schweikert VR5SE which
he had on display. I was hooked instantly!! The thing that amazed me was the soundstage, it just blew me away, so open and transparent. So, after purchasing a Pioneer Elite Kuro 60" plasma in 2007, I said, give me a year and we will talk about the VS's. So, this past September I went back and ordered a pair of VR-5 Anniversary speakers! They are the best purchase I ever made. I've had them for four weeks now, I probably have close to 125 hours in them and they are sounding better and better every time. My system consist of a McIntosh MC352 Power Amp, Analysis Plus oval 8 Bi-wire cables, Integra DTR8.8 receiver (used as a pre-amp), Sony SCD9000ESD SACD player, Pioneer Elite BDP-95FD Blu-ray disc player, a Pioneer Elite Kuro Pro-150FD 60" plasma. I listen to music in 2-channel (of course!) and movies in surround. My musical taste are pop, jazz, classical and new age. My listening room is 12 X 20. The Vons are two feet in from the side walls, three feet out from the back wall, toed in about 15 degrees, my listening chair is about 12 feet back from the Vons. On a personal note, I was born with Cerebral Palsy and very fortunate to work full time and own a system of this size.

Happy listening!

HTTRADTK, just a quick suggestion for further improvement.  Pick up a good preamp to replace (or run sidecar if you need HT) the Integra and I think the improvement will be significant.  Even 1k-2k range used will afford big step up.  JMHO...Jeff

Yes I think it would be a very good idea for everybody out here to share all their audiophile recordings with us.
Because we are all looking for this goodies aren't we? I think you people in the US have a lot of other ideas than
e.g. we guys here in Europe. So please let me start with just two live-records:
Kari Bremnes (from Norway): "Reise"
David Coverdale: "Starkers in Tokyo"
