Hey audio circlers,
it's been a while since i've browsed the forums - gotten totally out of hifi because I started a business and i'm bootstrapping.
What better time to boot strap than in a recession?
Anyways, i've been listening to music from my onboard soundcard to a pair of brandless computer speakers for 3 months.
I picked up a pair of decent bookshelf speakers but now I'm in search of a small but useable amp/preamp.
If anyone's got at Trends Audio TA-10 or something in that price range let me know,
  cheers,
sleepkyng

Good to see you around here again!

Good luck in the hunt.

I might recommend that you consider Craigslist and Kijiji locally, and be on the hunt for a vintage piece.

You might find a nice older SS integrated or receiver that would put you closer to good sound.

sleepkyng,

I packed away ALL my gear for 6 years to concentrate on a new marriage and my first business startup.......it's not just bootstrapping, it's giving you focus/clarity to do it.

I maintain great companies or great companies-to-be generally happen (or succeed) during recessions - not good times. When times are flush and folks have discretionary income and lending comes easy, any yahoo can succeed.  When times are tight, the truly creative ones with something significant to offer shine.

A little luck and a some fallback income or startup capital generally helps, too.

Lotsa' nice little vintage receivers out there looking for new owners and selling cheap  :)

Good luck, John

As for SS vintage - god I miss my 2265b, really, anytime I see a marantz i think about it.
But I need something light and small and portable. It's really just something to make the music bearable.
that's why i'm leaning towards the Trends Audio amp or something of that nature.

Hey! Good to see you as well! man, sometimes these internet communities really amaze me. Audiocircle is fantastic, the only reason I bumped out was the lack of funding (and time!)

I appreciate the words of encouragement! Maybe when our website is up I'll post it in the general forums.

Check out the Virtue amp at www.virtueaudio.com  they are getting great reviews and use the T amp chipset.

cryoparts

I have a small T-Amp that I used as a test bed for mods for one of my products, it has upgraded caps and the like in it.  PM me and it's yours for cheap, or for an interesting trade.  It's just sitting here collecting dust as my OEM manufacturer changed the board right after I finished it, so I had to start all over again.   :duh:

Peace,

Lee

I think Lee and I have come to an agreement!
