So how many different kinds of DVD cases are there anyway?

I've only had a DVD player for a few months and I only own about 18 DVDs and I swear each one of them has a different case or different method of holding the disc!  What gives?  There's maybe two or three jewel case formats for music, but DVDs seem to be a total free for all!

Ya, a boatload of them huh?  The ones I like best are called the snapper cases I think.  They are about the most hated cases out there, they have that black plastic piece that wraps around the front that you have to "unsnap" to get to the disc.  Pisses me off that the artwork isn't more protected and also that on a shelf they sit out further and when putting other discs in the rack next to them you tend to unsnap them or can't push the other disc in all the way.

I feel your pain...

And you're probably just dealing with US releases, aren't 'ya?

Start dealing with HK, Australian, & European DVD's and you'd really get annoyed. Although I do really like the perfectly clear cases that Europe & Australia get that have art printed on both sides of the case liner. So when you open it up you've got something to look at on the inside other than black plastic.

I'd prefer just one kind- all the rest are unneccessary, IMO.  Just makes it harder to rack 'em up.

I'd be happy with just the damn Warner cardboard cases gone. Sure, I'm not fond of a good amount of the different hub styles. But the damn Warner cases suck ass when trying to put a disc in the rack next to them.

I 'spose that also means I'd like the oddsized/metal cases to disappear. Such as the Akira LE tinset, and the Anchor Bay LE editions in metal cases. Sure, they still fit in the rack. But they're frikin' huge! :o
