Using S1 Speakers with normal audio cables
« on: 13 Jan 2009, 07:17 am »
Hello,
I'm not so technical so that's why I just shoot away my question.
I already have normal audio cables in my walls without any interfaces on it (no rca, no banana, just bare).
Now I want to connect my S1 speakers to these audio cables.
Can someone explain me the steps involved?
Do I use de included RJ45 to banana cables on the nuforce, and make a second pair for the S1 speakers, and add banana femaile plugs on the audio cables ?
How do I begin ?

Thanks in advance.

I got the pin layout of the rj45 from this forum.
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=53970.0

So pins 1 and 8 activate the icon equalizer.

I therefore think that it is an underappreciation of the S1 boxes if I use the icon without the equalizer.
Has anyone tried this ? Has this a huge impact on the quality ?

So I guess I have to make new networkcables according to this scheme to unlock the icon and s1's full potential ?

S-1 would not work well without the equalizer.  The FR will be totally off.

Frequency Response.
Please just don't mess with what's working. We know what we're doing  :thumb:

I just found something else that's probably the solution to my problem.
I have S1 and Nuforce Icon but there are standard audio cables through my walls.

Jason said somewhere that it's possible to patch from normal audio to RJ45. From the wall to the speakers you should use only 6 of the 8 pins. So not connecting pins 1 and 8. From the wall to the icon you connect all 8 pins. (do I connect pins 1 and 8 to nothing or pin 1 to + and pin 8 to - ?)

Are there any standard plugs I can use to go from naked standard speaker cable connections to RJ45 connection ? Ore what would be the easiest way ?

I get it now.
Just connect pin 1 and 8 together on the side of the icon to activate the icon.

Thanks2all.

Connecting pin 1 and 8 to each other ONLY (never to other pins) if you want to activate the EQ inside Icon for S-1.
