Hello Everybody! Up for your consideration is another truly unique Classic Series Amplifier. Each Classic series amplifier uses vintage components from amplifiers made in the 40's through mid 60's. That twenty five year span signifies the dawn of amplification excellence. Up for sale we have a three watt per channel single ended 6L6 amplifier using a 6SN7 driver tube. We're providing the WWII vintage 6L6's and the vintage 6SN7 with this amplifier. Unfortunately, the guide pins are broken off the 6L6's, but we marked where it was on the tube base. It's very easy to align the mark with the socket's pin indentation. Because of this, we're providing these tubes for FREE. Electrically, the tubes are perfect and sound beautiful. The power transformers are 1960's Zenith with an 8 ohm output. As a bonus, rare 1960's NOS Ohmite carbon composite resistors make up most of the support components. A vintage commercial Eico enclosure was chosen to house this amp. Despite its small size, the enclosure weighs nearly 5lbs by itself! The heavy plate steel will last forever. It does show some pitting on the top, but it adds to the vintage look. It is there, but not visible within the angled photos.
FYI: This amp has a custom power supply. On the top you will see a Triad HV power transformer and right behind it a filament transformer. Filtering is dual stage and very effective. The tubes are loaded gently and produce so little heat that it's not even worth mentioning.
Sound quality is amazing! Vocals jump right out at you and are somewhat warm. Highs are crystal clear and extended, meaning they really shine with horns and bring out the best in soft dome tweeters. Bass is fluid and smooth, not thunderous. I would recommend using a sub woofer to get a good low end extension. I prefer this bandwidth with a single-digit watt amplifier since it can pour more energy into mids and highs. It works out better this way. Please use speakers that are at least 95db efficient for best results.
