Using under my sub. Excellent product. Bass is better focused and louder. works for me.

Getting a sub off the floor is something Harvy "Gizmo" used to recommend. Thei is easy for a downfiring sub, just turn it over so it fires upward and put a board with something heavy on top. A little bit harder for a forward firing sub; you need a platform like this one. But I bet it would be better yet if you could raise it higher than that, say 1-2 feet off the ground.

This could definitely help with regular speakers by getting them off the resonating wooden floor. Well worth a shot, as long as your speakers remain fairly rigid while on it and not jingly and swaying. Remember a speaker is a mechanical device - the cones move, but the box should remain rigidely in place, otherwise your image will suffer.

Enjoy,
Bob

Lapsan,
I know you have Revs, like mine.  I use Sistrum SP101's under my Revelations (see gallery).  I LOVE them.  The theory is not to dampen but to provide a path for the vibrations to LEAVE and go to ground.  My Revs image like mad, and the bass is much tighter, since putting them on SP101's and giving them a week to settle.  The sides of the Revs are almost inert now, but the "outrigger" like posts of the SP101's vibrate like mad. :thumb:

These are said to be excellent under speakers as well

I am pining for an Ultra Shelf under my amp right now...

Yes, tighter bass will often sound lighter and certainly less boomy. There is an open question of how tight is too tight (as far as bass goes, you perverts). What I mean is that natural bass is not terribly tight - it is natural. Certainly true of an acoustic upright. May be true for some bass drums.

I think you get my point. Audiophile sound can easily be taken too far, although I do like it tight myself (again, you perverts, get your minds out of the gutter  :nono:).

Recently put my sub up on a 3 inch thick maple block. The wood is spiked to the floor while the sub rests on sorbothane pads for isolation. My initial reaction was, "where did all the bass go?"  I had to turn the sub's volume up a bit to match levels. Now the bass is tighter, and to my ear, more natural and only goes really deep when called to. Before raising the sub the boominess could be mistaken for deep bass.
