Sorry I haven't heard the Quads but there's a nice Corvair in my neighborhood with a for sale sign on it. Looks pretty nice as I drive by.

I used to have a pair, nice speakers!
Not as warm as what you might expect from the "typical british speaker".

Good overall tonal balance, great imaging too.
