WTB: SS integrated

I'm considering picking up a SS integrated for my living room rig. I'm a tube lover, so something leaning toward that side would be preferred. My speakers are efficient so I don't need extreme high power. Budget is anything up to 1.5k. If anyone has a piece they want to move on, shoot me a PM. West coast sales preferred.

Take a look at this thread on the very same topic:

http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamps&1226898011&read&keyw&zzredgum

I'm a hardcore tube guy so while I certainly have not heard close to all the SS offerings, Redgum does it for me.   While nothing sounds quite like tubes IMHO, regardless of all the marketing hype, you would be surprised at how fluid and musical it is.  See my comments in that thread under "spelly".

Redgum is not a common name here and it's not seen too often used, but you can definitely get the 120i for under $1000 used.  I did, and I love it.

Good luck in your search!

Used Red Wine Signature 30.2 is a great SS integrated.  You may be able to find one used in that neighborhood, but likely it will be a bit more than the ceiling of your budget.  Nonetheless, it would be worth saving up for in my opinion.

I think the suggestions above are all good ones.

If you can find a used Sugden A21, you will likely be very happy.  I had the baby brother A28B for 10 years, but eventually was won over by single ended EL84 amp for use with my high efficiency speakers (not what I used with the Sugden).

I second Iron Lion's recommendation...you can likely find a Red Wine 30.2 in a 30 chassis for under your budget... :thumb:

There has been great reviews on his work.........Let me know if you are intertested...

Most natural sounding EL84/6BQ5 Ihave  ever heard

Amazing with 90db and up speakers....

Thanks for all the input guys. My search will probably continue for a while. A local seller has a Lyngdorf 2175 integrated that I'm considering checking out. Does anyone have experience with one of those?

I have a Linn Classik for sale. It's amplification is similar to a chipamp.

For a nice clean look and sound the PS Audio C-100 for around 1500 is a pretty sharp and cool piece.  My best choice would be the Pathos Clasic.  The original and the MKii or MKiii are all awsome pieces.  You get the tube front end with some SS power behind it.  On the used market the Classic is around a grand and the MKii is closer to 12-1600.  If your on the west coast, I think Katli is a dealer for both of those companies.  Maybe he can help you?

Thanks,
Jeff
