For certain applications (SD cable/'Sat, upscaling DVDs, gaming) these are incredible digital HDTVs (720p/1080i multiple Component and DVI inputs)!

I have seen them for sale by individuals all over the US for $500-600

Here is a like new one in Orlando FL

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0000789GB/ref=dp_olp_2

You probably do not want to ship as they are 300lbs, but for a 40" CRT for bedroom or even family room thay are worth every penny of the $2200 I paid a few years ago!

If I see one in the vicinity of any of my relatives or friends I will strongly recommend they consider it.

And in 16x9 it is still 37" diagonal!

Pity more people didn't buy these.  I have a newer sony tube, 34XBR960 and still have yet to find a tv out there to beat it.  I thought SXRD would, but it wasn't even in the same leauge.

These things are huge, and awful to move (had to move a few back when I was in sales) but are worth it.  Tried to convince a friend to buy a 36xbr tube and they lauged at me.  Sad, since it was only $300 and instead they got a crap LCD which looks like garbage for $1k.

I completely agree.  I bought one when they first came out also, and it's still with me in my master BR.  Good thing I had the movers bring it upstairs though.

Yeah, 2 huge guys had trouble moving this 300lb monster onto the deck and back down into my great room! I think it was the biggest CRT ever made!

The 4:3 for standard definition (upscaled digitally) would require a 50" 16:9 TV to get the 40" diagonal.

So I would only replace this with a 52" or greater LCD/Plasma with a 120Hz rate. Those are still over 2K from what I have seen.

Since I just verified it will play Blu-Ray movies in 1080i, output from the PS3's HDMI jack into the HDCP-compliant DVI on the baclk of the CRT, I can still recommend it for many scenarios!
