Its the time of year where you need an excuse to warm yourself through with a lovely mug of steaming hot Gluhwein so heres my recepie. (apologies if theres already a thread, I couldn't find one)
Take:
1/2L Water
1 Orange in wedges
1 Lemon in wedges
1" Ginger chopped or grated.
1 stick of Cinnamon
10 Cloves
3-5 Green Cardamom pods.
1 Star Anise
2 Whole Peppercorns
150g Demererra Sugar
50g Golden Syrup.
Bring to the boil and simmer lightly for 10 minutes then let rest for 12-24 hrs.
Strain this mixture and add half to a bottle of dry red wine in a pan, heat till steaming.
I had this last night while listening to carols and putting up our tree, cant wait to have another bottle tonight.
