Hey gang,
I have an extra copy of a 200g heavy vinyl pressing of Duke Ellington's Blues in Orbit
I am going to raffle off this LP right here on the Omega forum on AC. I have played this LP once on my SOTA Star Sapphire turntable. There are two pops that can be heard in the dead space between tracks one and two on side one, and there is a very tiny inaudible hairline scratch on track 2 on side two (you will not be able to see it unless you inspect the LP closely with a very bright light). Other than that the LP sounds fantastic. It is now on backorder and will very likely go out of print. I paid $32.99 for this record and took delivery of it just about a week ago. I won't go into why I ordered a second copy since that is irrelevant. Suffice it to say that this excellent album will be going to a lucky Omega speaker owner for free.
Here is how it will work. Anyone who is interested in the drawning must reply to this thread
asking to be entered for the drawing - it costs you nothing to enter. The deadline for entries is 3:00PM EST Sunday, November 30th. After that no new entries will be accepted. At 6:00PM EST on Sunday I will print out all of the entries and cut them into slips, fold them up, place them in a jar, give it a few shakes, and then have one of my daughters draw a slip. The member who's name appears on the slip drawn will get the LP. This drawing is open only to registered AC members who own or have on order a pair of Omega speakers and own a turntable. I have no way of knowing whether or not someone meets these requirements, so this will work on the honor system. It would also be nice if entrants were at the very least jazz fans or liked Duke Ellington, but that is not necessary. The winner will be required to provide me with a mailing addres via PM. I will anounce the winner on Sunday night, and that person will have 48 hours to claim their prize. I will then mail the LP via US Postal Service Media Mail as soon as I can get to the post office. I will pay the postage for shipping this LP to any address in the US. If you live outside the United States you may still enter, but you will be responsible for the shipping costs.
This is intended to be a gift of music to a fellow Omega Loudspeaker owner, and it is my wish that the winner keep the album for their own personal use. Please don't disappoint me by flipping the record to eBay for a few bucks.
Finally, there is ONE, and only ONE record being given away in this drawing. Louis has given permission to me to run this giveaway, but Omega is not sponsoring this drawing and is in no way responsible for it or the album. I am not offering any kind of warranty on the record whatsoever. It is being provided AS IS.
Good luck!
