Bridging B4 Amplifiers
« on: 6 Jan 2009, 03:47 am »
Hi!  I am new so please forgive any protocol errors.  I have upgraded my system to include two 4B amplifiers and a 1B preamp.  I have an urge, not uncontrollable, to bridge these two amps but also have a healthy fear of the awesome power to be unleashed.  My speakers are Klipsh La Scala's and as such require almost no power to run.  Since i replaced my Nad 272 with the 4B I also disconnected my sub as it is no longer necessary.  I look forward to a Bryston DAC in my future but my my Apple laptop direct into the 1B sounds very good.  But can or should I Bridge? My volume control on the 1B is barely off the off setting to provide crystal clear incredable horn sounds.  In reply to the other post on Klipsh I will never not have those horns, my girl is not impressed with the black plywood boxes but is totally enamoured with the sounds that are emitted.  Sorry to be so verbose, please reply.  Thanks.

Hi crashh,,

No bridging required -your LaScala's have 104 dB effiencyat 1Meter/1Watt and a single 4B is PLENTY.

james

PS - my first speakers when I was 19 was a pair of LaScala.

Thanks James,

I know that the 4B is LOTS a 10W Heathkit home built is lots.  I just wonder if I would blow the La Scalas up if I switched those little switches?  I have the urge to buy some inefficient speakers so as to justify the deed.  Sorry for your luck as to have lost your La Scalas at a young age unless you are 20 and looking for La Scala IIs.
