Can anyone that has switched from cable to satellite speak to the overall quality and reliability? Anyone switch from satellite back to cable?

I switched from cable to Dish several years ago and will never go back to cable. Satellite has much better PQ and OTA is better still than satellite. Dish switched to MPEG4 not long ago and it looks great.

Cut what?
No Siree, I need my TV-fix, preferably daily. The higher the Definition the better.

Now If I had to choose, TV or Stereo? I may give the edge to stereo, but it will be a battle to end all battles...may last thousands of years.  :o

After a little online research it looks like Dish or Direct are probably decent alternatives to cable, but ultimately not much different in price compared to the cable service. I'll switch to the satellite when I see obvious picture quality advantages. I've got my eyes and ears open for neighbors and friends that have made the switch for PQ reasons, not for price concerns. I believe certain folks love to trash cable, and while some of it may be well founded, a lot of it I would say is just bunk. OTA may be an alternative, although it looks like a 5 gallon bucket of worms to get it all sorted out. I would say that most folks including myself don't want to dick around with antennas mounted on rotors 30 feet above the roof line. Not to mention what looks like constant tuning, turning and twiddling of that antenna to get the best results.

I'm happy with cable.  I definitely don't watch 90% of the channels, though.  Discovery Channel, Science Channel, Food TV, and The Military Channel are among my favs.

HD channels are looking great on my brand new 46" LCD, too!   :thumb:

I'm also not a TV junky. . .

We have been without cable for 4 or 5 years now. (me, wife and kids) We do Netflix and if there is anything from the network that has to be seen we go online. My Hitachi has pc hook up so we can watch our online stuff on the big screen. I'm happy without it. We don't miss it in the least bit.
