I have posted this question on Vinyl Asylum regarding Piccolo.  I hope members on this board have more insights on Piccolo.

Look at my post in another thread for my experience in changing the caps.  It made a big difference, though it still may or may not show off cartridge difference the way you envisioned.  Are you using a wallwart?  I can tell you that powering it with Bugle power supply is a definite upgrade as well.

I would not put much stock in what that guy opus 104 said. He's a bit of well how do i say it?A goof.
I own a piccilo.I use batteries and put auricaps in it.
I found no or should i say very little difference to just running my cornet2.I mean adding it changed the sound very little.
I think it's a fabulious product.I know adding a sut transformer changes the sound. My piccolo disapears. This is a very good thing.
I have auricaps in my cornet2 too.
