Potting transformers
« on: 19 Nov 2008, 03:41 pm »
Has anybody ever had their transformers potted? If so- was a thermally conductive potting material used? How much did it cost? I mostly use standard unpotted transformers since I'd rather pay for current ratings/quality/etc.. than for potting parts & labor- but some newer designs may call for potted transformers. The potting material is **very** important.

There was a good thread on Head-Fi sometime about doing your own transformer potting.  Let me look....

Here's one - http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/transformer-potting-155771/

I know he went on to pot the transformers in his build...

I think it's covered in this thread - http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/ear-hd-chassis-layout-updated-pics-page-3-a-171485/

Actually, this was the thread where he discusses and shows the potting process - http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/hybrid-psu-ear-hd-transformer-potting-pics-warning-167327/
