Since your listening to CTA rather than Chicago does that mean your listening to the first album?
I aleays thought I and II where pretty good. Saw them twice at the Fillmore West back then, once right before Chicago(II) came out and then soon after it came out. They were really hot, cookin', back then..... 8)

Sorry going off topic.
Marty-  Was that you with the electric yo-yo?  Three band for three bucks.  Good times, right?

B.B. King - Blues on the Bayou

I can't believe I forgot about this one...it is most excellent.  On my system this cd sounds incredible.  Everything about it is sounds sonically perfect to these ears.  The coherence of bass is the thing that stands out the most to me.  Highly recommended.

Also check out M. Ward.  I can vouch for these two.

Post-War

Transistor Radio

Mr. Ward is an amazing guitar player who has his own distinctive style.  I find these to be very enjoyable and sonically superior.

I recommend anything produced by Nigel Godrich, everything he has worked on (primarily Beck and Radiohead) sounds pretty incredible.

ugh, sorry for the double post but how about I mention Broken Social Scene's You Forgot it in People as another one of the better sounding records of the last few years.

Excellent suggestions! Keep them coming... Not too worried about them being RECENT releases -- just trying to freshen up the collection with newer material.

Porcupine Tree

better yet if you can do DVD-Audios they are excellently produced and have a great surround ix
Stupid Dream
Lightbulb Sun
In Absentia
DeadWing
Fear of a Blank Planet

The live DVD - Arriving Somewhere...  sounds better than most pop/rock records released today.
