VDA-2 Troubleshooting
« on: 4 Oct 2008, 03:49 am »
I just switched out my equipement rack, and doing so I disconnected everything and started over so that I can clean up the cable mess.  For some reason I can not get my VDA-2 to recognize any source.  I also tried both Optical and coax, on my CD player as well as the SB3.  I have it connected through a VAC-1, and don't worry, it is plugged in.  I tried out the walwart for the first time, and still luck.  The light on the VDA-2 is not triggering, anybody have a suggestion on to why this is??

Thanks

Hi

Just a thought. I did the same thing earlier this week. Reorganized my rack and unplugged and plugged in the VAC-1 (the VDA-2 was connected to the VAC-1). When I plugged in the VAC-1 again there was no life in the VDA-2 and since I didn't hear any clicking in the VDA-2 relay I checked the output voltage from the VAC-1 (14V). The voltage was zero so I opened the VAC-1 and checked the fuse. The fuse was blown so I changed it and it came back to life.

I'm not sure if CIAudio like people to open these devices on their own, but since I have electronic education and live in Norway it is just easier for me to do some preliminary investigation before I ship the device half way around the world.

B.T.W. The reason my fuse blew was (I think) that I was fiddling behind my rack and didn't plug it in with one firm movement. Meaning that the VAC-1 got several short bursts of power before I got the plug firmly into the socket. This can easily happen when a device has no power switch like the VAC-1

This is a late response, but I have had it up and running.

Thank you Dusty for your help!  Everything is working perfectly.

Fuses were blowing, there are no issues now.
