The Longshots
« on: 3 Jan 2009, 03:03 am »
A very moving true story 11 year old Jasmine Plummer who became the first girl to play Pop Warner football in it's 56 year old history and she played quarterback at that. Icecube stars as the girls uncle who has lost his job and is well on his way to being a bum, hense the plural in the title. I like all Icecube movies and this one was no exception. And it was the type of movie that made my wet eyed, sometimes I just can't help myself. This is a story of a town in recession, an exfootball player in dispare and a girl who's rejected at school and at home from a dad who deserted her. If it's not already apparent I liked this movie a lot, there was lots to like. 4 out of 5 stars.

Damn right  :thumb:

The more I think about his work since Unforgiven, the more respect I have for the guy. I was thinking about "Letters from Iwo Jima" the other day...what an incredible film! To view the war from the perspective of the Japanese was unbelievably interesting.

There aren't many who contribute to the industry to the degree that Mr. Eastwood has...

Considering how pigeonholed Clint Eastwood was back in his spagetti western days, it's quite remarkable to see what Clint has done with his opportunities. A real live "longshot" indeed. :notworthy:

See ya at the movies AJ. :thumb:

Clint is an old jazz fan.  Dyed in the wool and it shows in some of his movies.  Could be that's common knowledge round here.
