power conditioner for Nuforce amps
« on: 23 Oct 2008, 02:55 pm »
I'm curious what power conditioners/filters/regenerators Nuforce owners are using with their amps.  I'm especially interested in hearing comparisons among different conditioners.  I know Nuforce recommends the Blacknoise conditioner.  I'd be interested in hearing how other conditioners perform in comparison.  (I'm currently using a PS Audio UPC-200, which is an improvement over no conditioner; but I suspect I can do better.)  Thanks in advance.

I;m using a brick wall pw2raud AC filter that was recommended by Nuforce. I also use PS audio noise harvesters, and AudioPrism quitelines around the house along with dedicated lines.

Isotek Titan.
But wondering about dedicated lines somewhere in the future...

Thanks.  To what extent did the Brickwall and Isotek units improve the sound?  I hear reports that the Blacknoise unit and balanced power conditioners yield jaw-dropping improvements over no conditioner.  Frankly, my PS Audio condition only makes a noticeable improvement, not a really big one, which is why I'm looking around.  How much of an improvement did you get, and in what areas--bass, midrange, treble, black background, etc.  Thanks again for your replies.

Well, I'm not that much of a jaw-dropping type of addicted audio guy myself.
Quantum leaps I got only a couple of times - when I moved to NuForce gear or when I changed some tubes in valve pre+amps or when I migrated to electrostatics, not much more.
What I can say is that with Titan I sense an absolut black background and perfect grip from the NuForces.
Bass, to me, is at 100% (not 90% nor 110%) of what I think it should be.
The same for midrange and upper frequencies.
But the contribution for this result is mainly the system - NuForce+loudspeakers+source.
My reference is with the live music I hear, at concerts (female vocal jazz, mostly).
In the end, adding the Titan made a subtile difference not a dramatic one.
But at this level that's the best we can expect, in my opinion.
And by implementing the conditioner I stopped wondering about possible benefits from such equipment and got ready to move ahead to the next level aa

Hello,
I tried system&magic miniblack filter, I heard no difference on my system, I think there is a little one but too hard to hear clearly for me.
I tried Isotek minisub in a shop where there was problems on current quality (ground problems), the improvment was impressive, everything was much cleaner.
Now I own an Isotek Sigmas, there is an improvment but much less important than what I heard in the shop. Guitars, violins, etc. are cleaner.
I don't really hear improvements on voices but didn't test very much. The gain is the same than when I changed the power cords (isotek elite) but filter costs x10.

We have blacknoise products available for audition :)
We are considering selling BlackNoise direct from our online store since no dealers will carry them due to the recession  :(

I will provide an updated pricing (lower than what's on the website) very soon. I am currently traveling.

I'll be the third Isotek user with positive results. I own the Sigmas and have found it makes a dramatic improvement in my system however, it's effect is on the source more than the amps. There is a used sigmas on audiogon from the dealer that I purchased mine from and it's a great deal.

Hi Jason,
I'me really interested in the 8 sockets distributor Black Noise (230V, 50Hz).
Would NuForce sell Black Noise also for Europe?
Price "lower than what's on the web site" - that's appealing !
By the way, thanks for sending a plastic WBT ring. That's what I call very good service.

The US BlackNoise is 110V. Contact Systems and Magic in Italy directly (http://www.systemsandmagic.com/) for 220V to 240V AC system.

Ok, but then "lower than what's on the website" is kaput.
Anyway, I think I'll buy it, seems to be a good product in all aspects.
