HT/Audio System of one of my clients

I have a good friend and client back east who reads AC but doesn't post.  Over the period of the last couple years he has assembled (I think) an incredible HT and Audio System so I thought I would post "some" of his gear:

L&R Mains: VMPS RM30C (loaded)

Center: RM40C (yes that is the full RM40 placed horizontally)

Side Surrounds: 626R's

Rear Surrounds: 626R's

Sub: VSS

Pre/Pro: BRYSTON SP2

Main Amps for LCR: NuFORCE Ref 9 monoblocs

Surround amps: Pair NuFORCE IA-7's

Phono Preamp: Jolida JD9 ( forget what table he purchased, but it was a classic used table and arm)  I beleive the arm was a Shure SME, but don't know the model or vintage.

Power Conditioning: Chang Lightspeed CLS 6.0 and CPN32 with upgrades including Power Cords.

All interconnect Cables and Speaker Wires are higher grade AudioQuests.

This is truly a FANTASTIC System.

Helping someone get to this point is the fun part.

John,

What effect does laying down the RM40 have on the output of the ribbon drivers? In all the speakers, the ribbon drivers are vertical, even the LCR where the cabinet is horizontal, the ribbon is still vertical.

How is the RM40 lying horizontally? Is it on the floor or on a shelf/stand? Can you post pictures?

The Neopanels have pretty good horizontal dispersion when oriented vertically as in all the current models.

However, because the RM30C and RM40C have 3-4 panels of width, they provide excellent coverage both horizontally and vertically.  It is still "best" to angle the speaker to the listener's height for the best results.

I'll see if I can get him to shoot a photo.

It is on a shelf above the RPTV angled slightly toward the viewers.

John,

How is RM40C different from a regular RM40?

John,

It lies down on the job

Actually I call it the C when it is used as a Center.

Tweeter can also be rotated if desired but most find that does not make a big difference.

The slot can also be reversed to fire rearward if desired.

Amongst the LARGE Center Channel Speakers Availabe, it is an exceptionally strong contender (at $2500 base price)
