Came across a nice pair of these for a good price, and went about modding them.  The weak points about stock model is the tweeter and the crossover.  A buddy of mine rebuilt crossovers with same value components, but used bigger coils and all polypropylene caps and teflon-insulated wire, and i replaced the cheap harsh-sounding tweeters with a nice pair of Vifa dome tweeters.  Put about one lb of Acousta-Stuff in each cabinet.

These are fairly big speakers w 12" cast-frame woofer, 4" midrange, and (now a) dome tweeter. 32"H x 17"W x 14"D.  Some internal bracing makes them reasonably non-resonant.

Highly efficient (97 dB) and they sound pretty good with my 6BQ5 amp (about 15 wpc), although they'll pretty much rock the house with a bigger amp.  The biggest surprise is that the imaging is phenominal.  And yup, they do sound big.

Asking $250, which is about what I've invested in them.  (Would've been a lot more if my buddy hadn't given me such a good deal on the crossovers.)

Also open to interesting trades; particularly speaker stands, SACD players, and tweaks like isolation cones.

Can't easily ship these, so it's pick-up only.  I'm in Allentown PA, which is not so far from Philadelphia and other parts of Eastern PA and parts of NJ.
