PowerBar MKII (with Bybee inside)
« on: 14 Aug 2008, 04:13 pm »
I few years ago I built some AC power distribution strips. These used very high quality ACME AUDIO outlets, Nitro wire and Bybee Purifiers internally. The cases were made from stamped steel and aluminum.

Tyson owns one and he asked me if I could make another.

I did not have any of the old cases on hand so I thought about an upgrade.

Here it is:

The PowerBar MKII

The case is the Oyaide MT-UB. 2mm brass with chrome plating. Inlet connector is cryo-treated ACME AUDIO Silver Plated. One of the outlet is the Oyaide SVO-XXX. The other is WattGate Gold Plated. I have applied dampening material to the interior of the case to change the resonance. Two Large Bybee Purifiers are installed right at the input. The wire is Nitro.

A PowerBar set up like this would go for about $750.00.

There are many variations on this theme that can be built. Just about any outlet can be installed. It can be built with no Bybee Purifiers, 2, 4 or more, combinations of copper and Gold or even the very expensive, but great sounding, Super Effect Bybee Purifier.

With the PowerBar MKII you can get the benefits of having Bybee Purifiers on ALL of your gear.

I can also built this in a case with three duplex outlets.

If there is any interest in this product, please contact me through e-mail or PM. If there IS interest, I will put it on the web site.

In the meantime, I thought I would post here to see what you all think of this.

I got this in today, wow it's built like a TANK!  Very impressive.  Makes my previous Bolder PowerBar Mk I look like a toy.  Hooking it up (not a trivial task getting past all the tangled cables and cords behind my equipment rack and unplugging/replugging everything).  Wayne did a bit of burn in already on it, but even fresh out of the box my reaction can be summed up in 2 words - HOLY SH!T!  This thing had a very non-subtle effect on the ease and palpability of my music.  I always test things like this by listening to my old recordings of Louis Armstrong as well as the ones by Billie Holiday.  Normally these recordings sound so bad that it's hard to listen past the poor quality to focus on the astonishingly good music.  In fact I normally cannot make it halfway through a CD without having to change it, as it just sounds irritating in that "AM Radio" kind of way.

But what I'm hearing now has life, depth, and an organic texture I have NEVER heard outside of very good turntable and tube systems.  Of course the Bolder PowerBar MkII is not solely responsible for this, as I've also recently acquired some other very, very good equipment (including a super-modded Duet).  But the PowerBar II is giving me that ever-elusive "last 10%" toward allowing my music to sound real.  Highly, highly recommend.

Wow, not much response here, I'm surprised.  I've tried power conditioners and other "cleaners" before, and none made as much of a difference as this PowerBar Mk2.  Especially people living in high density areas should check this out.  Initially it was "marginal" purchase for me, as I bought it more for peace of mind than anything, but now that it's actually in my system, I'm not letting it go!
