khartago has arrived!

Just got my khartago today.

First thing that i noticed was how big the amp actually was. Hmm, i guess the pictures on the net don't really do it justice.

I promptly set it up and started the break in process. I was using a samson s1000 amp to power my studio 20's while i was waiting for the khartago. The samson was a definite step down in sound quality when compared to even the denon 3802 i had before. The one thing that annoyed me the most about the samson is how harsh it sounds. Can't really turn it up that loud without being unbearable.

Well after a couple of hours of playing music on the khartago, it is already a step up from the samson and even the 3802. What surprised me was the bass that was coming out of my 20's now. Wow, never thought they were capable of that kind of prodigious and tight bass. During the first hour, there was a bit of harshness but as the day progresses it's starting to sound more and more natural. Soundstaging also improved significantly. Heh, just can't wait before this amp fully breaks in!

There was one problem though. I noticed that the blue led in front of the khartago didn't light up. I emailed odyssey about it and after 5 min klaus called me up personally?!?! I was quite surprised by that kind of customer service. But anyway, he said it's not worth shipping it back just to get the led connection fixed. He suggested i open it up myself. I don't have extensive experience with electronics but i do know how to properly solder connections if that is the problem. I'll have to call up my friend since he borrowed my soldering iron. I'm kind of apprehensive though about opening it up. Don't want to royally mess up anything inside there to fix a relatively small issue.

I'll post some more impressions as the weeks go by.

My full system specs btw:

Paradigm Studio 20's
M-Audio Revolution (connected directly to the amp)
Khartago
SVS 20-39 CS+ with Samson S1000

Donot worry about the led if you or your friend have some expertise it will be easy, where the led is soldered there is enough room to work.

Maybe you should practice first and do not think you are soldering your dearest amp, just think of it as a "work" that has to be done fine...

Sometimes it is easier that way.

It sound's really good, you are right.
