I have RM2's. Is there a maximum distance from speakers to listener? The width of the room is 15' 4". I could make the room 26 ft in depth.
Thanks.

The greater the distance from speaker to ear, the more effect the room will have on the sound.

That is, basic psychoacoustics dictates that SPL (sound pressure level) drops as you move away from the speaker.  This is primarily due to the sound dispersing.  This dispersion also creates room sound.

The reduced SPL's combined with the room reflections shape the sound.

So Nearfield would present the most accurate level of detail, and "direct" sound.

There is no real "maximum" distance, but most find that they find a distance that gives them the best combination of clarity and acceptable "room contribution".

That said, you will probably find the acoustic phenomena that moving nearfield will put you in the front rows of a performance "sound", and moving further away, will give you the impression of being further back in the hall.

 Is that you Clyde?  Where have you been?

Hi John
Best wishes to you.
I'll be moving the system from Fl to Ohio next fall. I plan to make a listening room in the basement and am in the beginning stages of gathering information.
Haven't been on any forums lately. Flying solo.

Hi superchad
I live in Warren, Ohio for the summer and to Fl in Sept. I'm trying to sell the Florida home but it very difficult. When we do I'll move the system to Ohio. I'll check in with you when it happens.
Thank you for the invite!
