New amps, how would you run them?
« on: 20 Jul 2008, 06:53 pm »
My dad gave me his Classe CA150 amps (2) and I am going to add them to my system     (FF3 SRE) with outboard crossover, should I vertical or Horizontal Bi-amp? Part of me thinks keeping woofers isolated makes sense and part of me think Vertical is a good idea so help me make up my mind, I am replacing Aragon 4004MKII and Carver (for woofers) so I never have had identical amps to ponder this. Thanks for any help.

As a "general rule" the woofs will need more power, so "horizontal" will stress the woofer amp more.

I would try both, but have a feeling the "vertical" method will offer the greatest performance benefit.
