I am offering up my stock SB3 and 2 aftermarket power supplies for sale. The linear power supply is the easiest and most cost effective "no-brainer" upgrade for the Slim Devices/Logitech Squeezebox 2 or 3.
The Elpac WM220 is modded by Bolder Cables to replace the noisy stock switching power supply that severely pollutes the circuitry and limits the performance of the Squeezebox. The Elpac retails new for about $120, or used for around $40, plus the $125 for Bolder Cables to make the modifications. Factoring in shipping, and you are looking at $200-300 plus up to a MONTH of wait time from ordering a stock WM220 to the time it comes back modded from Bolder.
This power supply is in excellent tested condition, and is silent (there are some used WM220 that have significant hum problems, so beware of buying a used one in poor untested condition) so you save money and get instant gratification from picking this up here. I am asking $120 + shipping, which is less than the cost of the mod itself.
I also have a 3 month old Welborne Labs Power Supply for the Squeezebox 2/3 that is definitely a step up from the Elpac PS in both aesthetics and sound. This was assembled in house by Welborne (for $100 extra) so it works perfectly, has no missing parts or issues and carries the 3yr warranty. I strongly believe that buying one assembled is well worth the premium given the well documented challenges of assembling the kit from those who have tried. This power supply also has the detachable IEC cord option, which allows you to use your own aftermarket power cord, which IMHO makes a HUGE difference. I will include the original stock IEC power cable to get you started. The price for the assembled PS is $305+ shipping. I'm asking $250 + shipping which is a great opportunity to get a great PS which is fully tested and broken in, from a company that many have had challenges dealing with. I'm only selling because I've upgraded to the Bolder Ultimate PS.
For those who don't already own a Squeezebox, I also have a MINTY 9+/10 all black Logitech Squeezebox 3 (WiFi version) that is only 3 months old (before I replaced it with a Bolder modded one) with original box, manual and remote that I would sell for $220.
I have tried 4 different power supplies (stock, Elpac, Welborne and Bolder) with the SB3 and if I were to rank their relative performance, I would put it in this order:
Bolder: 100% with aftermarket cord
Welborne: 75% with stock cord, 85% with aftermarket cord
Elpac: 70%
Stock: 40%
