Blue Ray Layer Change
« on: 30 Jun 2008, 12:07 pm »
I have recently acquired a Samsung 1500 BD player and overall picture quality is good and loading times are not horrendous (compared to some I have seen posted elsewhere).

The complaint that I do have is an extreme lag at what appears to be a layer change.  I am talking about a period of time that the picture appears to distort and possibly lose a few seconds of the movie in the process.  Damn irritating to say the least when you figure the cost of the unit and the price of the movies.

Anyone else run into this problem?  It shouldn't need a firmware update, it is the latest model.

Any suggestions/fixes or similar experiences out there?

Thanks,
Walt

For those wondering about spec 2.0 availability, found this on the Samsung sight:

To be able to take advantage of Profile 2.0 content, the player must have specific software and hardware capabilities. Samsung’s BD-P1000, BD-P1200 and BD-P1400 comply with the Profile 1.0 requirements. The BD-UP5000 is Profile 1.1 ready and firmware to make it a Profile 1.1 player is available now. The BD-P1500 meets the Profile 1.1 requirements and comes Profile 2.0 ready. Firmware to upgrade the player to Profile 2.0 will be available this fall.

is it possible this layer change has to do with profile requirements?  there is a *lot* of information on that thread...i didn't read through but your answer could be in there.  good luck.
