The 10g's are reported to have a major break through in lumens and infinite backs levels. I am debating in my own head so badly right now as I want a 151 soooo badly some I have seen reports and posts from people that say the 10g's may be the largest improvement yet. Kinda hard to believe with as good as they look right now...

That was my take as well.  The quality of this year's model combined with concerns about the quality of next year's product were my primary motivating factors.

The Panny panel-equipped version may be an even higher quality product, but that's not the usual outcome from such changes.  Regardless, I expect the -151 will prove more than satisfactory for my desires.

Panny will be manufacturing the glass for the sets but they will not be handling full production. Everything will still be built to pio's standards and QC'd by Pioneer.

The 151 is an incredible picture!! I have seen it and it is beautiful. By far the nicest display on the market. I also know an excellent ISF calibrator who travels around the country should you need one?
Can you please share the calibrator's name here or via PM? Thanks, Kent

Thanks, but the fellow I linked above (Chad Billheimer) is a great ISF technician, too.  And as good fortune would have it, he contacted me couple of days ago about making a swing through the southern states in July/August.  Seems I won't have to wait 9 months this time after all.  :thumb:

However... if something falls through (never say never, never say always ), I'll definitely be in contact.

Thanks for the ISF suggestions. I have a contract with Magnolia at Best Buy, but will look into your suggested calibrators before pulling the trigger. Kent

technology's always a slippery slope...i don't think it's reasonable for any of us to purchase a television to think of it as anything other than a depreciable asset...

that being said, i think a lot of industry professionals considered the first gen kuro to be the first flat panel display that truly resembled the best crt image quality.  every person has their own idea (and rightfully so) for what's reasonably priced, but as long as the quality improves and the price goes down...well that's a win for the consumer regardless :).

i think something else to consider is that the kuros come much closer to isf calibrated spec fresh out of the box versus a lot of other shipping televisions, which means that the isf calibration itself turns into a great upgrade option (versus a necessity at the time of purchase) when upgraditis hits...and with audiophiles it always does...
