French Polishing the Norh Drums
« on: 6 Nov 2003, 05:57 pm »
I am amateur woodworker (guitar maker) and am interested in the old work art of French Polishing. I have communicated with Michael Barnes about the possibility of purchasing unfinished drums. However, while I know wood I do not know electronics.

How easy or difficult is putting the speaker together after I finish the drums. I'd like to do this, but won't if there's a chance I will screw up the speaker itself.

BTW, I have a pair of Norh3.0 and will be French Polishing those without taking anything apart.

9.0's and 7.0's would be a piece of cake for you.

4.0's and 5.1's (external tweeter module) would be tougher to do IMO.

I would want to do either a 4, 5, or 6 series. The 7's and 9's and too much for my budget. Mr. Barnes indicated that they could install the crossovers (for an as yet undetermined price) but that the drivers are easy to install.

Does that seem correct?

The woofers are all easy to install.

The tweeters of the 7.0's and 9.0's are easy to install.

I've never had to install a tweeter on a nOrh speaker that had the external tweeter pod, so I can't answer that ?.
