My SL-1200 is an old one that had a hard life previously.  It could be the motor mounts are loosing it's grip on things and the edginess I hear is due to transmitted vibrations to the deck itself.  As I had said in another post, I'll likely ship off to KABUSA for outboard motor and strobe disabler and we'll see if that does the trick.

The damping trough is heavyweight aluminum foil....the silicone bath is 30,000 or 50,000cst oil bought from either TurntableBasics.com or Tower Hobbies ('differential oil' for radio controlled cars are the same silicone and lots cheaper bought this way).

The damping trough experiment told me in no uncertain terms that damping with fluid bath (or my current JVC has internally oil damped tonearm in both vertical and horizontal planes) is a fantastic upgrade for vinyl fanatics.  It allows for lower noise floors.

The clay on top was a great sonic benefit...as I knew it was a tester table for me, I went for it

Time to buy a new SL1200

I've just finished puttin' the SL-Q2 into the garage with the new hum free AT440MLa. I need to re-balance, set anti-skate and we are off to the races.

Tonight has been proclaimed "YES" night and we will start with the "YES album" and conclude with "UNION". That will be about 30 years of YES music. A fire is also planned as well as a BAR-B-Q.

Of course favorite beverages will also be in order. Here in Minnesota, the 6 or 7 days of nice weather have to be taken advantage of, before the state bird shows up (hint: they like to suck blood).

Have a nice weekend, everyone.

Would the state bird of Minnesota by any chance bear a passing resemblance to many single women in Los Angeles?  Sounds like the same blood sucker variety  8)
