Also, consider the Soundlines.  They are a bit more at $3600, but they image superbly.  The only downside is the dynamics, which can be fixed with some wire and crossover parts replacement.  They are easy to place in the room.

I have not modded mine yet, but they definitely have potential.

I would like to see Hantra's answers to my questions.

I think I was very civil in the way I asked them.

It's off topic and you know it will continue the argument.  I have my own opinions about internet-direct companies and am keeping it at bay because it's a different subject than a generic 'what do you like?' type thread.

Civil or not, it's a different topic to be discussed in a different thread... or through PM's.

there are to many variables in speakers for a best of anyway.
one person hears different from another-
one might care more about looks -
one person has size limitations
one person is scaredof the net-
one is addicted to buying only from the net-

WHO THE FUCK CARES
next we can discuss flavors of the month in audio

Actually it was very on topic to the thread..when looking for which speakers to buy Hantra made his opinion known in GENERAL and I was seeking additional information from him on  which manufacturers he was SPECIFICLY talking about.

Will it add to a fight?  I didn't think we were fighting, in fact my questions were my first post in this thread.

Now, not to let Hantra off the hook, he either has to say which speakers he has heard and that the makers had no talent, or he has to say he really hasn't heard that many in which case his opinion means very little.

I want to see which speakers he thinks it's makers have very little talent.

Don't you think that would go a long way in helping Jason make up his mind?

Carlman,I see your first post on page 2 was a hell of a lot less on topic then my questions...is it the fact that you agree with Hantra and you can see that my questions will embarrass him that is the reason you don't want me to ask them?

I guess, if he's heard something that is clearly poor and indicative of idiocy or talentlessness.  But, he only mentioned online or direct sellers would be the ones with no talent... not specifically AC.  Or at least, that's how I read it.  I thought you were egg'ing him on.  So, since you're genuinely interested in who he's talking about, the question can stay open.  These 'best speaker' threads come up about at least twice a month so, I don't care if you 'discuss' just don't go overboard.  Things have been so nice lately.  :)

I noticed I hadn't seen a "best speaker" post in over two weeks so someone had to do it.

Just curious if you have heard some of the speakers that their manufacutrers have circles here? If so which ones, and do you feel the manufacturers have no talent?

I have heard several actually.  Two from Rick Craig, the ones Van Alstine distributes, as well as the Omegas.  I liked all of them, and I wouldn't say that the manufacturers of these have no talent.

Not sure what that has to do with anything I was talking about.  My point was that, even you or I can pick out some really expensive parts and put them in a box made of ______.  That doesn't make us speaker designers, and it doesn't necessarily mean that the speaker will sound decent at all.

This is something I think everyone should understand, and until you hear two speakers with the same drivers, from different manufacturers, you probably won't understand even what I am saying.

Wooah. . I even made a disclaimer saying that I was NOT disrespecting, or saying that Internet based companies were bad.  My point was that it's stupid to limit yourself if you are truly searching for the "BEST", which this poster obviously said he was.

I certainly didn't mean that Internet based manufacturers have LESS talent than manufacturers who have a network of dealers.  I was providing food for thought only.  I will keep my opinions to myself on certain "box-stuffers" that I don't respect.

Meanwhile, back to the lecture at hand.  It's obvious that this guy is not willing to look anywhere except for Internet based companies.  So if that is the case, I would recommend a long look at Cain and Cain, who I respect a LOT, and I believe Terry has MUCH talent.  So there. . .

I would most certainly put the Focual 688 on your list, you aren't hearing the top 3 if you don't.

I may be in the market for a pair.  They would need to be good all around performers good on all music and equally impressive on HT.   They would also need to deliver excellent bass that would eliminate any need for a sub.

A pair of used Vandersteen 3A Signatures might fit your needs. Depending on age and condition, figure about $2500/pair. New 3A Sigs run $3500.

I totally agree.  These are great speakers, and a KILLER for that amount of money.  But I think Richard Vandersteen might have been in the business too long, and be a little too successful for this guy.

I've made my point. . .  I'd really like to know though what you end up with J.

Thanks for the good recommendations.  I'm strongly leaning towards the RM30's.   I have been intriqued by Vandersteens.. I have heard a lot a good about the 3A sigs. in the past and I like where the money goes into his products.

So far on my short list are-
Odyssey Lorelei
Onix Reference 2

If anyone can comment on the two I've mentioned above or has any more suggestions that would be great.
I will also be powering these speakers with Panny SA-XR45 that I plan to have Wayne modify down the road.
Thanks.

What about the EFE speakers from Ed Frias? The T36 has gotten a lot of good people reviews. cost $1500 or so.
