Auric Illuminator Kit

Has anyone tried the Auric Illuminator Kit from Audience? I am not one for tweaks but I thought I would try the kit after attending HE2005 and seeing a dealer use a marker to outline the edges of a CD.

For $39 it was worth a shot. Seems like voodoo but we have gambled with more money in the past

Anyway the kit arrived and I gave it a go. To my surpirse I noticed an improvement, not a jaw dropping improvement but more then I would have expected which was nothing.

The midrange and treble seemed smoother and the soundstage became more expansive and natural. Again the difference was slight but noticeable.

I would like to point out that I do not sell this product but it does deliver on it's claims.

You have to love these low cost tweaks. In the past few weeks the incremental improvement to my system has been well worth the $80 for the VH Audio- P&S cryogenically treated receptacles and the Auric Illuminator Kit.

yes, i use Auric Illuminator by Audience and find it offer the improvements you mention. as you said, the differences aren't huge, but definitely not insignificant either. the only downside is that it is time consuming to treat all the discs in your music collection.

i have found the effect to vary from disc to disc. some seem to benefit a little less while others a little more.

BTW, have you tried the Bedini Ultra Clarifier?

Seems like the Furu sold at VH Audio. Have you tried it? If so any comments?

hello Bryan,

i have an older single beam Bedini and have found it have a positive effect. cleaner, tighter bass. instruments (pianos and saxophones) sound more natural. the harshness in vocals is tamed. cymbals and brushes have better focus. less convoluted and better defined soundstage.

everytime i demo a Bedinized and/or Auric Illuminated for folks at my listening sessions, folks are surprised that both of these actually do make a difference.

both offer nice improvements for the money.

treating with both makes discs sound even better IMO!

I have all these products: Auric Illuminator, Walker Vivid, Audioprism CD Stoplight, Bedini ultra clarifier, Furutech RD-2, Furutech PC-2 spray, Record Research Labs Shine-Ola spray, and some others.

All these more or less "work" to similar degree, and I have my favorites, mainly a combo treatment of Furutech PC-2 and Shine-Ola.

But you know what? Life is too short, and after completely converting to hard drive music, None of the above offer any improvements for ripping bit-perfect digital copy onto hard drive from the CD in the DVD drive.

So basically, all these products are band-aids for the ill-conceived notion of capturing digital data on the fly, real-time, from fast-spinning CD's, with constantly-moving laser heads. If people want to buy these now-useless-to-me products, please PM me..

Couldn't agree more. It was like going from digital to analog for me.

My perfect system today would be my PC feeding digital to a good DAC and/or a TacT preamp connected to a good amp. I would've never thunk it.

Tweak away, though.... pens, wax, a laithe? and all the other stuff DOES make a difference but it's so minor to me, the weather, my mood, and so many other factors make as much or more difference than these costly tweaks.

BTW, there's a thread about 'audiophile grade fuses' in the Lab if you like tweaks that make small differences.

Hi guys,

my own experiences with Auric Illuminator are that it does work even though it is true that the effect is not as great on every disc.

Generally I exerience after treating a disc that it sounds louder (even though the volume knob of my equipment has not been turned up more) and more natural , more relaxed and life-like.
With DVD's the picture quality can improve as well (more saturated colours, more filmlike and stable picture) but please do not expect your normal DVD to be turned into a BluRay disc all at once.
The differences are usually small but noticeable and worthwhile.

IMO this is surely one of the better tweaks I have ecer tried and it is definately a keeper.
