Holy crap!!!   I just picked this album up and not only does the album sound fantastic and rate as demo material, it is a lot of fun to listen to as well!

It's a mix of swing, ragtime, blues, and traditional jazz.  The soundstage is wide and deep, focused, lots going on musically, and it is a serious toe tapper to boot.

I know we all have different musical tastes, but I highly recommend this album.

I love jazz. It's probably my favorite genre. I have many jazz trumpet CDs from many players. But so far, I can't stand WM's "playing". I don't get him. I've tried and tried. I've purchased (and dumped) several of his so called "great" recordings. He never seems to just play. IMO he's always screwing around, show boating. Like he's saying, "hey! look at me! see what I can do!", instead of just performing the damn songs. I've yet to hear a CD of his where he takes the music seriously and plays it well for the sake of making beautiful music. Perhaps he feels he is too cool to just play? Perhaps he feels he needs to set himself apart from the rest? Perhaps he feels he needs to jerk the material around enough to irritate me because he hates me? I don't know. Maybe he is so good and so cool that I just don't get it.

Is this new recording different than his others? Does he play it straight?
