Strangely enough not all, or even a high percentage of VMPS customers are AUDIO CIRCLE posters. However on a regular basis, I receive letters and or e-mails like the one below. This gentleman had some "vintage" VMPS and was really quite happy with his sound. I gently suggested that he might be impressed with Brian's latest work in the RM40 model. Below is only one (of 4) e-mails he sent me only yesterday shortly after receiving his new RM40s. I get the impression he is enjoying the ride in his new soundfield :WellBeen listening for about 3 hours nowNormally that is about all I can take of CD sound, too crisp, too edgy. Got to get my old turntable fixed and listen to the crackle popping hiss but so much smoother, sweeter soundNever wore you out Anyhow, the sound is so much cleaner, detailed and precise. Though there may not be the same base the Towers had, it is much tighter and controlled. I like it moreThe voice is the most distinguishable thing, as you mentioned. You can make out words that used to be muddy, blurred and indistinct. I have never been a vocal person in music but can appreciate what these baby’s do for the voice portion, never knew it was there. Like you said, hear things I have not heard before or at least in a very long timeAlmost makes me feel like my Towers were less than acceptable yet they were the same level of excellent when I purchased them in the beginning, just not this good. I won’t mind giving my towers to my son or best friend or who ever deserves those 15 year old sweeties. Well, now that I think about it, maybe I will just keep themHow many people out there own two pair of speakers of this quality. I am sure you see plenty but I don’t know any.I am going to enjoy bringing over some of my friends who have Vandersteen, Thiel, Quad, Magnepan’s and even the Martin Logan boys who think they are so special The Towers could hold their own against all but the Martin Logans overall and the Maggies in the mid and tweeter range. The rest were no better. Well, those days have changed. Best $-K I have spent in a long, long, time……………………….. I want to thank you for talking me into them, for making me aware of the special deal you guys had and for bringing really fun and great music back to me Give Brian a special thanks also as I know he has to be proud to build something like this…………….I can only imagine what the really big boys he has are like…….Don’t go there, I am happy right where I am, at least for another 10-15 years and you will have to buy me new ears for the next set of speakers Have a wonderful weekend, you made mine for sometime to come
There's plenty of life left in classic VMPS speakers if owners are willing to upgrade drivers and crossovers. The ST III (dynamic version sold from 1987 to 1994) are particularly easy and rewarding to upgrade. Another classic model that responds very well is the dynamic FF1 (and the smaller FF3). These feature 3" thick front baffles with 2" sides, backs and tops, and are extremely stable platforms for top quality drivers. Owners should email me for advice. We also have some FF1 and FF3 cabinets left over at good prices, and both vintage and modern drivers to use in them. Could be a great project for the hobbyist.

Some of us live on the opposite coast, so shipping speakers to Cali would be a challenge.Thanks.
I am aready thinking about what to do next to improve the sound.
John, I have to be able to get over this before moving to a pair of RM v60.
Sometime in the coming week I will give you a call to see how the RM v60s will fit the current layout. I know I have enough horsepower to drive anything.
